Suspect Arrested in Skilla Baby Drive-By Shooting
Detroit rapper Skilla Baby, born Trevon Gardner, was hospitalized after a targeted drive-by shooting on May 22, 2025.
While driving alone in his SUV near 8 Mile and Beech Daly, an assailant fired more than 20 rounds at Gardner’s vehicle, causing it to crash into a building. The rap star sustained gunshot wounds to his head, hand, back and thigh, but is expected to make a fully recovery.
Just two days later, Gardner made a surprise appearance at 42 Dugg’s concert in Detroit, performing briefly while wearing an arm sling.
On June 6, 2025, a suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting, but Skilla Baby has yet to publicly comment on the incident.
Gardner, known for his activism against gun violence, previously organized a gun buyback event in Detroit in February 2024, aiming to reduce firearms in the community and provide resources for individuals with criminal records.
