Trump Considering $5K Baby Bonus To Boost U.S. Birth Rate
The Trump administration is reportedly considering a $5,000 “baby bonus” for new mothers as part of a broader initiative to address declining birth rates in the United States. President Donald Trump has expressed support for the proposal stating, “Sounds like a good idea to me,” when asked about the incentive.
In addition to the cash bonus, other proposals are under consideration including reserving 30 percent of Fulbright scholarships for applicants who are married or have children, and funding programs that educate women on their menstrual cycles to promote natural family planning.
The administration’s focus on increasing the birth rate aligns with its broader pro-natalist agenda, which emphasizes traditional family values and aims to reverse the nation’s declining fertility rate. However, critics argue that these measures may overlook more pressing issues such as affordable childcare, paid family leave and comprehensive maternal healthcare.
As discussions continue, the administration has not yet finalized any policies, and the effectiveness of such incentives in reversing demographic trends remains a topic of debate among experts.
