Ari Lennox is officially no longer signed to Dreamville Records, the label founded by J. Cole. The R&B singer confirmed her departure this week, following a public dispute last year over her treatment and marketing support.

In October 2024, Lennox took to Instagram to express her frustrations with Dreamville and its parent company, Interscope Records. She accused the labels of negligence and manipulation, stating, “I just want to be released, and it’s just that simple. I’m tired of being nice … now I’m pissed. This was my final straw.”

The controversy centered on the release of her single, “Smoke,” which she claimed was dropped without her consent. Lennox expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of promotion for the track, stating that she had to pay for her own Google Ads to support it.

Despite her departure, Lennox has maintained a positive relationship with J. Cole, thanking him for the opportunities provided during her time with Dreamville. She remains focused on her music career and is exploring new avenues for artistic expression with the release of her latest single, “Soft Girl Era.”
