Earth Day 2025: Why the Culture Should Care
Celebrated every April 22, Earth Day is all about protecting the environment and pushing for change when it comes to pollution, climate justice, and sustainability.
This year’s theme is “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlighting how everyday people, typically those in marginalized communities, can lead the charge in protecting the environment. It’s a call to action for collective power: using our voices, our votes and our platforms to demand change from the ground up.
Black and Brown communities often bear the brunt of environmental injustice, from toxic air to unsafe drinking water, making climate action a racial justice issue, too. That’s why Earth Day isn’t just about saving the planet; it’s about saving our people, too.
So today, recycle that bottle, plant something, support Black-owned eco-brands, or just tap in and stay informed about our planet. The culture can’t thrive if the planet doesn’t survive.
