Elon Musks Says X Outages Due to Massive Cyberattack
The social platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, reportedly experienced major technical difficulties on Monday resulting in several outages.
The first outage happened at approximately 6 a.m. Eastern and then a second at 10 a.m. The third outage, which happened at about noon on the same day, reportedly lasted at least an hour. More than 40,000 users claimed they had no access to X during the outages, with users on the U.S. coasts being the most affected.
X’s CEO, Elon Musk, is now blaming the outages on a massive cyberattack that he says was a concerted effort by either a large, organized group or a country, adding that X fights against cyberattacks every day, but Monday was different.
“… this was done with a lot of resources,” said Musk.
Musk also told Fox Business Network that the IP addresses associated with the attack originated in the Ukraine area, with much skepticism from many cybersecurity experts.
Musk bought X, then known as Twitter, in 2022 and is also the CEO of Tesla.
