Making The Band Singer Sara Rivers Sues Diddy
Diddy has been hit with another sexual harassment lawsuit, this time by former Making The Band 2 singer, Sara Rivers.
In addition to sexual harassment, Rivers is accusing the disgraced Hip Hop mogul of inhumane treatment during her time on Making The Band 2, including controlling her sleeping and eating schedule. She also claims that she was forced to share a room with four men, despite being married, and was never compensated for manual labor she performed. Rivers alleges that Diddy would mock her appearance and even years after filming the show, he sabotaged multiple record deals for her.
Rivers claims Diddy made frequent threats toward Making The Band 2 group members and recalls one incident where he told one he would eat his face off and threatened to kill another. However, Rivers says she was the only group member who Diddy sexually scrutinized.
Rivers goes on to allege that between 2002 and 2004, she was only paid a $5,000 flat fee per show, a few hundred dollars per week to cover food during filming, and $25,000 for a publishing deal she felt “pressured” to sign.
Diddy is denying all of Rivers’ claims and one of his representatives provided a statement to PEOPLE saying:
“This is yet another example of false claims being filed against Mr. Combs. No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone – man or woman, adult or minor. We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason. With the deadline for New York’s Gender-Motivated Violence Act expiring tomorrow [Feb. 28], it’s clear that opportunists are rushing to file last-minute, meritless claims. Mr. Combs remains confident he will prevail in court.”Â
New York City’s Gender-Motivated Violence Act was passed in 2000 and allows survivors of gender-based violence to sue for civil damages. Rivers is suing Diddy and other executives and companies associated with him, including MTV, Universal Music and Sean Comb’s mother, for $60 million.
In addition to Rivers, 14 new accusers have come forward and filed their own suits; five men and nine women. Diddy is also preparing for his federal trial scheduled to begin in May to face multiple federal criminal charges, including sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
