The Grand Dame was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of driving under the influence last year.

A Maryland Circuit Court Judge suspended one year of the sentence, meaning Karen Huger is expected to serve one year in jail. After crashing a vehicle in Potomac last March, the reality TV star was also found guilty of negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision and failure to notify of a change in address. She was acquitted of reckless driving.

Huger will also have to pay $2,900 in fines and is banned from driving for a year after her release from jail. She will also have to complete five years of supervised probation.

Unfortunately this was not Huger’s first run-in with the law involving alcohol. In 2017, she was arrested for DUI, though that case was ultimately settled with probation and fines.

According to reports, instead of attending the most recent “RHOP” reunion, Huger checked herself into a rehab facility.

The sentence has sent shockwaves through the Housewives franchise’s fanbase, many of whom are shocked to learn of Huger’s issues with alcohol, who has been a fixture on the Bravo reality series since 2016. She has yet to comment on the ruling.

However, Huger’s cast mate, Ashley Darby, did recently comment on Huger’s sentencing on the Tamron Hall show, saying when she learned that Huger would have to serve jail time, she cried “like a baby.”

“I really care about her,” said Darby. She also encouraged everyone to pray for Huger.
