Young Thug Announces First Show Since Jail Release
Young Thug will be hitting the stage for the first time since he agreed to a plea deal that made him a free man last year.
The rapper will be performing live in Belgium this summer on July 5 at the Les Ardentes Festival, which is one of the country’s premier music festivals held annually.
Founded in 2006, Les Ardentes has grown into a multi-day event showcasing a diverse lineup spanning pop, rock, hip hop and electronic music. Over the years, the festival has welcomed some of the biggest names in the industry, including Travis Scott, Cardi B, Future and Pusha T. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and eclectic mix of genres, the festival draws music lovers from all over Europe.
Thugger’s latest performance news has left fans wondering if he’ll announce any U.S. shows soon, but the rap star as remained largely silent since his release from jail.
Arrested in 2022, Young Thug faced charges alleging his involvement with the Young Slime Life (YSL) crew operating as a criminal enterprise. Thug’s case was part of a broader crackdown on alleged gang activity in the Atlanta area, and it sparked much debate about the intersection of music, street culture and the law.
Young Thug ultimately pled guilty to six counts of gang-related activities and was sentenced to a total of 40 years which included a 5-year prison sentence commuted to time served, plus 15 years on probation. The last 20 years of his sentence will be “backloaded,” meaning he’ll only have to serve them if he doesn’t complete his probation. The judge also ruled that Young Thug is prohibited from being in the Atlanta metropolitan area for any reason other than weddings, funerals, graduations and medical emergencies, and he’ll be subjected to random drug tests and property searches. However, Thug is currently trying to get those terms of his probation revised. The rapper is also seeking the return of his belongings that were seized during raids on his home.
