Spirit Airlines Updates Dress Code And Passenger Conduct Rules
Effective as of last Wednesday, Spirit Airlines has updated its “contract of carriage” with new guidelines on passenger conduct and attire.
The revised dress code now prohibits clothing that is see-through or exposes private areas like the breasts or buttocks. It also bans attire deemed provocative, offensive or obscene, along with body art that may be considered lewd. Passengers are further prohibited from boarding if they are barefoot.
These changes are part of broader behavior rules outlined in the airline’s “Conduct/Condition” section. Passengers can be denied boarding or removed from a flight for a variety of reasons, including:
- Disorderly, abusive or violent behavior
- Intoxication or drug use
- Failure to follow flight crew instructions
- Security threats or risks to others, the aircraft or property
- Contagious diseases, such as chickenpox
- Inability or refusal to fasten a seatbelt
- Offensive odors, unless related to disability
Spirit Airlines has not made additional public comments about the updated policy, beyond what’s outlined in the contract. These changes aim to create clearer expectations for passengers, ensuring a safer and more comfortable experience for everyone on board.
For full details, passengers are advised to review the updated contract of carriage.
