Travelers heading to the United Kingdom next year will have to pay a fee to enter as the country prepares to implement its long-anticipated electronic travel authorization (ETA) fee. According to the UK government, The ETA goes into effect for visitors from the United States, on Jan. 8, 2025. Although no one likes to spend additional money while traveling, the good thing is that it’s not a hefty fee! The ETA will be digitally linked to a traveler’s passport, with a cost of £10 ($13.05) which is valid for multiple trips over two years. Each traveler will need to have their own ETA, including children of any age.
The UK’s minister for migration and citizenship said in a statement,
“The worldwide expansion of the ETA demonstrates our commitment to enhance security through new technology and embedding a modern immigration system,”
