“Not Like Us” Climbs Back Up The Charts Amid Drake Lawsuit
After Drake filed two legal actions against his own record label over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” the song has surged in sales and streams.
Just last week, Drake accused Universal Music Group of using illegal business practices to promote the record even though they allegedly knew it contained false claims about him being a pedophile. He also accused the music industry giant of executing a “pay-for-play” scheme and using bots to push the song on radio and other platforms.
However, Drake’s legal moves may be having “the Streisand effect” as they’ve only made “Not Like Us” more successful. According to reports, the diss record aimed at Drake has increased in sales by 440 percent and streams by 20 percent. Not only that, the song is climbing back up the U.S. charts on Apple Music and Spotify.
Kendrick Lamar is still expected to perform the song, along with new songs from his latest hit album, GNX, at the Super Bowl next year. The rapper dropped the surprise project on November 22 and it’s already projected to sell more than 300,000 units in its first week. Eight out of the 12 songs on the album are also expected to land in the Top 10 on Billboard.
Known for his groundbreaking storytelling and socially conscious lyrics, Kendrick delivers a bold, genre-defying project with GNX that pushes both sound and message. It explores themes of identity, resilience and systemic inequality, all while incorporating experimental production and innovative flows. Fans and critics alike are calling it his most ambitious work to date, with standout tracks already becoming cultural anthems.
