Melania Trump Will Not Meet With Jill Biden
Their husbands may have put their differences aside to meet at the White House, but Melania Trump and First Lady Jill Biden won’t be doing the same.
According to reports, Melania is once again defying the typical First Lady norms when it comes to traditional duties and responsibilities, as she recently declined Jill’s invite to meet at the White House. Melania’s office confirmed the news earlier this week.
“Mrs. Trump will not be attending today’s meeting at the White House. Her husband’s return to the Oval Office to commence the transition process is encouraging, and she wishes him great success.”Ā
The meeting was scheduled to take place on the same day as President Joe Biden hosted President-elect Donald Trump at the White House. Traditionally, these meetings between the outgoing and incoming First Ladies are a gesture of goodwill to help facilitate the peaceful transfer of power. This marks the second time in recent years that the Trumps have not followed this custom. In 2020, they did not meet with the Bidens at all.
Melania’s invite decline comes after her very noticeable absence during her husband’s presidential re-election campaign, as she has largely distanced herself from the media and public eye.
