Denzel Washington Reveals His Retirement Plans
At the age of 69, legendary actor Denzel Washington is planning to retire.
Currently on a promo run for his new movie, Gladiator II, which will premiere in theaters later this month, Washington revealed that after his next few projects, he’s saying goodbye to acting.
As he wraps up Gladiator II, the actor is also preparing to take on the role of Othello on Broadway for the second time, having first played the character at the age of 22. Following this, he will reprise the role of Othello in a film adaptation. Washington is also set to play both Hannibal and King Lear in two separate upcoming projects.
“For me, it’s about the filmmaker, especially at this point in my career,” said Washington. “I’m only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m gonna make – probably not many. I want to do things I haven’t done.”
Washington also revealed that he has a role lined up for the third Black Panther movie, though the film has not been officially confirmed yet.
