After the St. Louis rapper was arrested for ecstasy possession and failing to have car insurance, Nelly’s lawyer has released a statement about the incident.

According to Attorney Rosenblum Schwartz, the rapper was arrested for “no proof of insurance” stemming from a 2018 warrant of which Nelly was unaware. Schwartz also claims that Nelly was ultimately not charged for ecstasy possession and simply a target for a “overzealous out of line officer.”

Nelly has not made any public statements himself.
