Donald Trump to Be Sentenced in Hush Money Trial on Sept. 18
The Supreme Court has rejected a lawsuit requesting a delay in sentencing Donald Trump for his New York hush money trial convictions.
The lawsuit was filed by the state of Missouri, which asked for Trump’s sentencing to be postponed until after the presidential election. The state argued that the rights of voters in the state were violated by the trial, as it prevented them from hearing from the Republican presidential nominee as he tries to make his way back into the White House.
Trump was convicted on multiple counts involving falsifying business records to cover up a $130,000 payment to adult film star, Stormy Daniels. According to prosecutors on the case, this payment was intended to buy Daniels’ silence about a sexual encounter she had with Trump before the 2016 presidential election.
