Baltimore’s own Gervonta Davis caught another body on live TV. This time, “Tank” Davis defeated Yuriorkis Gamboa in the 12th round, claiming the Lightweight Title.
Davis remains undefeated in his 23 professional matches. 22 of those 23 fights have been decided by a knockout. He has maintained his reputation for his energetic pursuit of greatness, making the city proud with each bout.
Even Baltimore Ravens’ runningback Mark Ingram showed Davis love after getting his victory against Gamboa.
Davis put on for the city in a major fashion. The prize fighter wore a Lamar Jackson Ravens jersey before his fight, showing the whole world that Baltimore as tough as they come.
Big things are expected for “Tank”. He’s one of the hottest boxers in the industry and is quickly rising among notable fighters. He’s been on the journey for a while but ensures everyone that he is not tired; regardless of how it may have looked last night: “It probably looked like I was tired, but I wasn’t tired,” Davis said during the post-fight press conference.
He continues to talk about dealing with Gamboa’s strategy, “his game plan was to try and take me into deep waters and things like that. That’s what I heard, that his game plan was to try to take me into deep waters. So, I wasn’t tired. But there was shots that I was catching him with, and he wasn’t going nowhere. So, as a fighter, you know, if you can’t really knock a guy out, you start working your way, start picking your shots, so that’s what I was doing. It was never a point in the fight that I was super-tired.”
