Gregory Thornton Head Of City Schools Is Being Replaced

The Baltimore City School Board announced on Tuesday that it is replacing Gregory Thornton as CEO.

Thornton will be replaced by former city school chief academic officer Sonja B. Santelises.

He will step down at the end of the week.

Thornton’s stint ends less than two years into his four-year contract after arriving to Baltimore from Milwaukee in 2014.
